Customs in Ecuador & Taxes

The main thing to remember about Ecuadorian customs is to not go over the allowed weight limit for the luggage you are allowed to have which is two bags or 175 pounds. Security regulations with respect to carrying certain dangerous or flammable materials are the same as in all of the international airports.

In addition, each traveler is allowed to import one liter of alcoholic beverages, 300 cigarettes and a reasonable quantity of perfume. All of these articles are free from taxes. There is no problem in bringing personal equipment, however, if there is something that is not considered to be a “personal object”, you should consult with your consulate in Ecuador.
All archeological pieces are protected by law and it is therefore prohibited to remove them from Ecuador because there are considered as a cultural heritage of the country. It is also illegal to import dangerous animals.

The only fee to be charged is the Airport Departure Tax which is $25.00.
