City Bus Service in Ecuador II

Ecovía – Ave. 6 de Diciembre
The Ecovia goes from the North to the South along Ave. 6 de Diciembre mainly. The trip is only from the main station located on Ave. Rio Coca between 6 de Diciembre and Eloy Alfaro to the Station “La Marin” in the center of Quito. Like the Trolley, the Ecovia has feeder buses only from the Rio Coca Station to the north of the capital. The feeder bus system also has a route to and from the “La Y” Station of the Trolley and to and from the valley of Cumbaya.
Hours for service are from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm. All feeders for the Ecovia including the feeder that goes to the Trolley run until 9:30 pm.
For more information go to:
Trolley: 1800-ELTROLE (876532)

Interparroquial Buses
Also, if you want to travel to other areas surrounding the city, you can take the “Interparroquial” buses that are identified by their green color and vary in cost depending on the distance of the trip. There are very few “Popular” buses with a light blue color and which charge 18 cents for the trip.

If you want to take an Interparrochial bus towards Cumbayá, Pifo, Puembo or El Quinche, you should go Av. Rio Coca and Eloy Alfaro where the terminal for these buses is located. If you are interested in going to the Valley of los Chillos (Sangolquí, El Tingo, La Merced, San Rafael) you can take the buses from the Calle Isabel La Católica and M. Caamaño (next to the University Politécnica Salesiana) or in the round about of El Trebol.

In Guayaquil, buses are generally caught at the stops but often, especially in Guayaquil, the person has to hunt down the bus and make it stop. Traffic in Guayaquil is very difficult, roads are clearer but more dangerous. People drive very fast and each street is turned into a speed way.

In Cuenca traffic is also difficult, roads are narrow and this makes flow difficult. Buses can take you to anywhere in the city especially if you catch one in the center. But because Cuenca is a small city, walking is the best option to get around to most places in the Center or within the modern areas.
The buses begin their routes at 5:30 am and end at 10:00 pm.

Interprovincial Transport
The Bus Terminal Cumanda is where you can get buses to almost any city in Ecuador. There are transport companies that will take you to specific destinations near the capital. Visit our section on Interprovincial Bus Transport to learn about the most recommended companies, destinations, costs and times.
