"La Reyes Banda"

The Reyes Band was formed on August 10. 1993 by eight Ecuadorians bound by a common love of tropical music. Before coming together, Reyes Band memebers had all belonged previously to some of best bands of Ecuador.

A few months after they formed, the band released its first CD entitled La Banda Que Manda... Reyes Band, featuring 11 original tracks and a plethora of tropical rhythms ranging from Cumbia Caribeña to Merengue and Zamba Pop.

In the ensuing decade, their original and eminently danceable songs gained them quite a following in their native country. More recent CD's, including Con Mucho Calor and Calienta - T, remain staples of local and regional radio stations.

Band members include Musical Director Fredy Moreno on keyboards, Joffre Porras on percussion, Henry Mencias on bass, Fernando Gallegos on trompet, Pedro Vélez-Conguero on percussion, Danny Hidrobo on sax, Marco Martínez, Edgar Cadena and César Yánez on vocals and choreography.

Backing the music is Fredy Moreno, direction and production, Gio Audio Corp., recording technician Giovanni Martínez, design and digital artist Estenio Caicedo Villegas, printing by Stenio Boutique Creativa, phogoraphers Patricio Calle and Alfredo Lagla, Gustavo Arias, hair and make-up promotions by Lorena Terán.

The Reyes Band has brought its versatile sound to some of the best Hispanic music festivals, including:
Hispanic Festival, Bayfront Park, Miami, October 1994. Cane Carnival, Cali Colombia, Estadio Metropolitano, December 28, 1994.. Cane Queen Election, Cali Colombia, Estadio Metropolitano, December 1994. 40 Best World Orchestras Festival, Cali Colombia, Estadio Metropolitano. December 30, 1994. Independence North American Festival, Bay Front Park Miami, July 4, 1996. Ecuadorian Independence Festival, Flushing Park, New York, 1998. United States Tour, August, 2000

At these concerts and festivals, Reyes Band has appeared on the same ticket as such international tropical music stars as Guayacan, Grupo Niche, Oscar de León, Olga Tañón, Proyecto Uno, Rey Ruiz, Jerry Rivera, Sandy and Papo.
