"Raza Indomable"
|
The reality of Ecuador's marginalized
urban society is expressed in the rock music of Metamorfosis.
Since 1992, this head-banging band from Quito has tried
to generate social conscious and hope amongst its audience,
questioning prevalent attitudes and pop lifestyles in
each one of their songs.
Metamorphosis: a change or transformation
that occurs in the physical as well as mental realms not
limited to the individual but encompassing the whole.
The name of the band speaks of rebels with a cause and
a conscious, striving to promote change.
The band was officially formed in 1992
by students from San Fernando, a Dominican founded school
in Quito. The current members are:
Juan Tapia (guitar and back-up vocals)
Lenin Estrella (guitar and lead vocals)
Ramiro Estrella (drums)
Roberto Estrella (bass and lead vocals)
Metamorfosis began as
cover band playing songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's.
In 1995, however, the band decided to make their own music.
Their music was inspired by the painful Ecuadorian reality
evident in their urban setting. The band is now considered
one of the top rock groups of Quito.
Metamorfosis has produced
two long playing CD's. From the band's most recent CD,
Esperanza de Golpe, we present the song,
"Indomitable Race." Enjoy.
