Mentioning the name "Los Brillantes,"
is to refer to a cultural emblem that has a four decades
trajectory in Ecuador, first as a quartet and then as
a trio. The name of the band was given to them by one
of their fans while touring in the Caribbean: "Brillan
con luz propia, ustedes deberían llamarse Los Brillantes."
Today, after 30 years of absence of this talented trio,
one of its original members Víctor Galarza, has
reformed the essence of the band and founded six years
ago Los Tres Brillantes.
Accompanying Víctor is Patricia Valenzuela, on
lead vocals, and Ricardo Almachi on guitar and backup
vocals.
Los Tres Brillantes have toured with internationally
renowned groups such as Los Panchos and Los
Tres Reyes of México, Los Antares from
Colombia, Los Kipus from Perú.
In Ecuador, the group visits various provinces playing
in local festivals where they are well received by a nostalgic
public.
The group has produced four musical CD's . The latest,
Amor se dice cantando, is made up of 12 songs,
one of which, "Horas y minutos,"is presented
here.
For connoisseurs, Los Tres Brillantes is arguably
the most well known Ecuadorian band outside the country.
