"La Noche Se Va"
|
María Fernanda and Maria
Dolores (Lola) Guevara are twin sisters from
Quito with a penchant for performing. Since they were
children, the two have dedicated themselves to developing
their musical talents. In 1999, their efforts gave fruit
to the locally acclaimed pop duo Las Lolas.
Eduardo Guevara, the father of the twins, informs us
of their beginnings: "One day María Dolores
told us she was going to sing in a school function (Las
Mercedarias)... Something inside of me told me to take
the day off and I went to see her. When I saw her easy
stage presence and then again with María Fernanda,
I knew something interesting was going to happen...they
were just twelve years old."
The Guevara sisters proceeded to participate in school
talent competitions where they became well known. The
girls enrolled in music and singing classes which helped
perfect their inborn talent.
Their first disc, Quiero pensar, recorded
with the help of Felipe Jácome (Tercer Mundo),
got them air play on local radio stations. With the backing
of Sponsor Group and Christian Valencia (musical producer),
the duo started their professional career.
Las Lolas currently have 2 full length CD's: the
self-titled "Las Lolas" (2002) in which the
ballad Qué debo hacer made them
a household name in Ecuador. In their latest disc, "DOS"
(2003), the songs Me haces tanta falta and
Atrápame positioned them firmly in the Ecuadorian
market.
We leave you with the song La noche se va, sung
beautifully by these talented and appealing Ecuadorians.
