"Ya No Queda Nada"
|
2004 welcomed the first CD by La Traba, a talented
young fusion group from Quito. The CD is composed of 12
soul and feet stirring songs combining spicy Latin American
rhythms such as son, cumbia,
bolero and valsesitos with energetic pop
and rock.
La Traba's career began one year ago when its members,
Santiago Paladines (guitar and lead vocals), Juan
Ernesto Guerrero (guitar) and Iván Valles
(drums) gathered to "just play informally in front
of friend serenades and guitarreadas." Since
then, the band has been tirelessly recording and playing
live gigs, gathering a dedicated and large local following.
Some of their songs, like "La Cacería,"
are now very popular and get ample play time on Quito
radio stations. The band has already opened up concerts
for internationally renowned stars such as Fito Páez
and Enanitos Verdes
The music and lyrics of La Traba are reminiscent
of Julio Jaramillo and Olimpo Cárdenas, exponents
of música rockolera, but with the magnetic
expressivity of a Carlos Santana guitar solo. The lyrics
of "La Caceria" reflect the youthful, rebellious
sentiments of the band: "I have the fight in my soul,
I am the fury, the pressure, the anger....the bullets
that give me life."
For now, La Traba is focusing on a nationwide
tour. "We want to travel around the whole country
and if possible, play without stopping." For our
loyal cyber audience, we present "Ya no queda
nada (Nothing is left)" an exclusive release
for GoEcuador.com.
