Guardarraya,
a pop-rock alternative band, has become a favorite among
Ecuadorian youth. Formed in 2000, the three man band has
so far released produced two CDs.
The band´s first album, the epyphonously named “Guardarraya”
was an experimental work and was never actually released,
although some of the tracks did receive play on Ecuadorian
radio stations.
Their
second album, “Chistes y Roces,” recorded
at Carter Studios at Quito, Ecuador, is a mix of various
rhythms and has been a hit on the radio. All tracks are
originals, including Trailidad, Háblame más
Suave (Talk to me Slowly), Mar (Sea), Balón de
Aquiles (Aquiles’ Baloon), Estúpido (Stupid),
Eraze que se Era, Tristes Toces, Ayayay, Epílgo
(Epilogue).
The
band received an enthusiastic response at the recent Music
Festival (Fête de la Music) in Quito, organized
by Alianza Francesa.
