The
musician Clímaco Vaca was born in Cotacachi, Imbabura
province located in the northern Andes. Soon he discovers
his love for music, and years later became teacher for
the kids of his hometown.
Among
other things, Vaca says “we live in an era full
of crisis, values and identity are somehow blurred, within
a globalisation process which imposes strange lifestyles,
far from our reality, from our environment, from our Pacha
Mama.
“The
creation and action constitute our fundamental trademark,
and when the personality creates, cultivates the land,
raises buildings, builds citizenship, composes symphonies
and paintings, gives light and educates children, then
it is really nourishing the Mother Country.
The
melodies in the PARAMOS ANDINOS cd, give faith to the
Andean sounds, with Ecuadorian ethnic rhythms, only to
discover through their notes, the diversity and richness
of our multiethnic people and of the Cotacachean nature.
PARAMOS
ANDINOS is a musical suite which invites to reflect on
the harmony between the man-man and man-nature relationships.
The
Ecuadorian music and its varied rhythms, allows recovery
of identity. The support given by its authors and composers
fortifies the “unity in diversity”, asserts
Vaca.
Among
the other themes in this cd you can find “Nostalgia
de mi tierra” (Longing for my land), pasillo; “Lagos
de mi Tierra” (Lakes from my land), suite; “Sumac
Pachac”, danzante; “Diablo Huma”, Sanjuanito;
“El Arco Iris” (The Rainbow), Sanjuanito.
The
work “Paramos Andinos” is part of a series
of Andean music publications (“Páramos Andinos”
by Clímaco Vaca; “Música, Inspiración
y Ternura” by Armando Hidrobo, “Dulzainas
de Oro” by Grupo Añoranza; “Cotacachi
Tierra Mía” by the Musical Band of Cotacachi),
endorsed and supported by the municipality of Cotacachi
and its actual Mayor Auki Tituaña.
The
municipality of Cotacachi, through this project, looks
to recover the musical roots. Within a touristic master
plan whose main objective is for Cotacachi to become known
for its music, handcrafts and eco-tourism.
