Blues S.A. , a band from Quito, began in 2001 with the idea of creating music that is a fusion of blues and funk . The name of the band appeared in the mind of the members a few days before their first live presentation and serves to show the attachment of the band to the blue genre, without the importance of names, therefore they are the Blues "Anonymous Society ".
The founding members are Andrés Noboa, Nicolás Dávila and Daniel Díaz. Their songs are their own creation and inspiration and are sung in Spanish, something that has not been done by the bands that belong to the blues genre in Ecuador. Their inspiration in the words of Andres: "Obviously it comes from the black blues from the United States but we appreciate the blues in Spanish, like Argentinean represented by Papos Blues".
In order to increase the quality of variety of sounds within the band, three more musicians joined the group in 2003, and are José Andrés Terán, Miguel Sevilla and Juan Carlos Donoso. They complete the 5 current members of Blues S.A. All of the members study music in the Institute of Contemporary Music of the San Francisco University of Quito where they are improving their style.
The youth of the members of the band caused them difficulty in beginning for people to take them seriously. In their first concerts, they were met with the incredulity of the public. They thought that at their age, they couldn't create serious music, but their presentations have demonstrated the contrary.
This band has presented and still presents their music in bars and discos in Quito and other cities in the country. They have also presented in various music festivals in Ecuador where they have achieved great success and acceptance. Some of their successful presentations were in the music festivals called "Einstock" organized by the Einstein School in Quito, the music festival "Sekfest" organized by the Sek School in Quito and the "Feté de la Musique " (Celebration of Music) organized in the French Alliance of Quito every year.
After their first single, I want your funk, was well received, the band is preparing their first CD that they hope to have on the market at the end of 2004. We leave you with a live song, recorded in the bar Pobre Diablo in Quito in July of 2004. The song implicitly and explicitly shows the devotion of the band to the blues and to nothing else, an irreverent love of music, typical of all good artists.
