The Ecuadorian Four Memories Band (Los 4 del Recuerdo) was formed in 1997 which is consisting of four popular trouvadours who love their musical traditions.

Since then, their artistic inspiration and passion have led them to create a number of enduring musical works. Their passionate and original melodies have made them favorites of Ecuadorean radio.

The band features Ivan Salazar on percussion and lead vocalist, Renan Diaz on guitar and backup vocals, Marcelo Cruz, on electric bass and backup vocals; and, Mauricio Lopez, on the uniquely Latin American guitar the requinto and backup vocals, Mauricio Lopez also on requinto and percussion. Roberto Diaz and Marcelo Armijos provide technical assistance.

Los 4 del Recuerdo’s CD contains traditionally-minded compositions in the pasacalle, sanjuanito, yaravi and bolero genres. The band aims to take their unique sound which mixes traditional melodies with a signature sound to a greater Latin audience.

The Galapagos track on their first CD, has become an anthem in this famed island province of Ecuador. On Galapagos radio stations, the song regularly opens the broadcast day after the playing of the national anthem.

In fact, the Galapagos government, the San Cristobal Municipality and the Province Dance Center organized the Cultural Artistic Festival as part of Ecuadorian Day, (Oct 28 – Nov 3, 2002). The band had the honor of being invited as an artistic representation of Continental Ecuador.

The band’s mission is to perpetuate and immortalize Ecuadorian cultural music.
