Volunteering our efforts towards helping others while living abroad promotes cultural immersion while providing an enriching personal experience. Ecuador's myriad foundations and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) offer a number of volunteer opportunities, ranging from teaching in schools, making products, preservation of ecosystems and house construction. In addition, one can organize a volunteer experience through the several international foundations that operate programs in Ecuador.
Volunteering positions are broadly divided into two categories: 1) Working directly with a community or Human Development and 2) Nature Conservation. The former involves positions such as teachers, helping with basic service projects and the development of products and small businesses. The latter encompasses tasks such as helping with endangered species, reforestation, studies of wild flora and fauna and ecological conservation.

Ecuador Volunteer, is a non-profit organization that offers volunteer work opportunities abroad in social, environment, educational and community areas around Ecuador.
The main objective of our programs is to offer an experience of cultural exchange, as each one of our projects looks for work of brotherhood and help with local people. Yachana Foundation
At the Yachana Foundation, we are dedicated to finding sustainable solutions in the struggle between the ideals of rain forest preservation and the realities of life in the Ecuadorian Amazon. We work with local communities to develop community-based medical care and ecotourism programs, establish sustainable agricultural practices, improve education, provide environmentally sustainable economic alternatives, and conserve the rain forest.
Yachana Foundation employs an innovative development model based on a non-profit/for-profit organizational structure. The non-profit Foundation has created two for-profit companies, Yachana Lodge and Yachana Gourmet, to finance its fight against poverty and disease and the destruction of Ecuador's imperiled rain forest. One hundred percent of the profits from both companies support Yachana Foundation's rain forest conservation, poverty reduction, healthcare, and community development projects, guaranteeing their long-term financial sustainability.

Projects
for Peace - Ecuador
Projects for Peace is a non-profit, non-religious, all volunteer based
incentive, which believes in the overwhelming power of many distinct,
but equal voices to initiate positive change in the developing world.
Formed in 2004, with the primary goal of uniting small community based
projects in Ecuador, we strive to improve the quality of life and
provide technical assistance and education to women, indigenous groups,
and other disenfranchised minorities. Through the use of new technologies,
we empower the creative minds behind newly energized forms of traditional
products and activities. Our projects concentrate on providing long
term benefits for all stake holders, while protecting the community's
cultural and environmental uniqueness.
