Departure from Quito, we will take the Panamerican Sur highway until the town of Lasso, then continue toward Mulaló, to finally reach the María Ranch, place where our transport will leave us. From here we will continue toward the area of Morurco, a rocky peak located at 4700 mts. place of our first camp. DAY 2. In the morning we will continue our journey advancing toward the east side of the Cotopaxi; we will be reaching as far as 4.100mts, below the immense glaciers of the Volcano. We will camp in the area of the Vicious Valley that faces toward Quilindaña Volcano. DAY 3. Continuing with our journey we will hike through an area of big and small hills and small lagoons where ducks, mountain gulls and other characteristic birds of the paramo nest. DAY 5. In the morning we will visit the National Park Cotopaxi and after we will return to the city of Quito. Departures: Everyday DAY1. At the set time we leave Quito and head south to Riobamba, in this small city we will take about 30 minutes to rest and visit the indigenous market where we will buy rubber boots for our walk. We continue our route changing roads until the area called Inguisay located at 3422 mts. We will fix our baggage with our muleteers and mule to continue to our first camp located at 3,750 mts, Polylepis forest. Dinner, lodging, 2-3 hours hike. DAY 2. After the breakfast we continue our hike of 5 - 6 hours to the Mandur Lagoon, located at 4.387 mts. DAY 3. After breakfast we prepare our backpacks and get ready to hike to the Italian camp (the Glacier) at 4,500 mts, special equipment is not needed, but warm clothes are a must. From there you will be able to observe the Altar with all its picks, we continue our journey to the blue lagoon, then to the green lagoon and return following the same path. This hike takes about 4-5 hours. Dinner, camp. DAY 4. Exit with all our camp equipment and all our carriers (not mule for the difficulty of the rock). We will hike through the rocky part of the mountain until the edge located at 4,484 mts and from there begin our way down to the area called Playa de Collanes located at 3,852 mts. After breakfast we will proceed with our return to the Releche ranch with all our camp equipment. ACTIVE VOLCANO SANGAY, 5.229 MTS Price: US$ 814.00 per person DAY 1. - We will take the Panamerican Sur highway until the city of Riobamba from there we will take the road to the town of Guargualla Chico. This day we will spend on getting to the town, organizing our horses and equipment. Dinner and camp. DAY 2. - Breakfast. Beginning of our journey approximately at 9 am, hike of 8 hours until arriving to Rincon de Escaleras, place where will be our second camp (snack in the Tambillo area), it has dinner and camp. DAY 3. - Breakfast. Beginning of our journey approximately at 9am, hike of 8-9 hours until arriving to Plazapamba, place of our third camp. DAY 4. - after breakfast we begin our journey, after 7 hours of hiking we will arrive to Playas, place of our fourth camp (snack on the Carnicerias area). Dinner and lodging. DAY 5. - After breakfast, we will trek through the sandbank until arriving the edge from where we will be able to admire the magnitude of the volcano, without necessity of coming closer we will be able to observe and hear the eruptions with regular intervals, see stones, ash and smoke. The currents of lava are constant and at night the show that they provide is hallucinating and unforgettable. Descent, dinner and lodging in our camp. DAY 6. - Return from the camp of “Playas” to the camp “Plazapamba.” DAY 7. - This day we will spend in returning from the camp “Plazapamba” to Guargualla Chico where transportation is waiting to taking us back to Quito.
