DESCRIPCIÓN:
Dar los primeros pasos para ser “montañero” implica aprender, asimilar y poner en práctica una serie de conocimientos que permitirán desarrollar habilidades técnicas, físicas, mentales y emocionales. Ser “montañero” es un proceso de aprendizaje continuo que nunca termina, pero siempre habrá un punto de partida para ello. Este curso pretende dar las pautas básicas necesarias para que este proceso se inicie y así empecemos a formarnos como montañeros responsables y respetuosos de la naturaleza.

El curso esta dividido en dos partes; una teórica, donde se impartirán los conocimientos básicos necesarios para:
 Vestirse adecuadamente en actividades técnicas de montaña
 Elegir y usar adecuadamente el equipo de campismo
 Instalar un campamento en el sitio adecuado y de manera correcta
 Saber cómo actuar en caso de tener que pernoctar en la montaña
 Utilizar técnicas adecuadas para moverse dentro de los diferentes terrenos en montaña
 Causar el menor impacto mientras hacemos una incursión a la montaña
... y la otra parte, donde pasaremos una noche en la montaña teniendo la oportudindad de poner en práctica los conocimientos en el campo.

ISLA DE MANGLAR
9.30 Introducción a la visita
Travesía del Estuario de Caráquez hasta San Vicente
Visita a los vitrales de cristal de roca tallados a mano en la Iglesia Santa Rosa
Traslado a Puerto Portovelo, Centro de Información, video de interpretación y exposición de fotografías de aves (Proyecto de Turismo Comunitario).
Recorrido en canoas con los guías nativos, hacia los manglares de la Isla.
Caminata por el sendero elevado en medio del manglar (información de las diferentes clases de manglares, pájaros y otras especies que habitan en la isla)
Recorrido silencioso por los túneles en medio del manglar (observación de cangrejos)
Observación de la colonia de fragatas y otras especies de pájaros como pelícanos, cormoranes, ibis, garzas, etc. (alrededor de 30 especies)

Retorno a Canoa

Hoy se dio inicio al “ALAS REEF CLASSIC ECUADOR 2008". Los heats entraron al agua desde las 07h00 am con olas de aproximadamente dos metros de altura. Las estrellas latinas dieron un espectáculo de surf profesional. Entre los mejores de la primera ronda Open Pro estuvieron: Kalle Carranza y Dylan Southworth de México, Gabriel Villarán de Perú y Leonardo Gianotti de Brasil, quienes lograron promedios sobre los 15 puntos.

The "ALAS REEF CLASSIC ECUADOR 2008” began today from 07h00 am. The Latin stars gave a spectacle of professional surfing in two meters waves. Among the best in the Open Pro first round were: Kalle Carranza and Dylan Southworth from Mexico, Gabriel Villarán from Peru and Leonardo Gianotti from Brazil. They all succeeded averages above 15 points.

La Comisión de Ciclismo de Montaña de Pichincha con energía renovada y más experiencia, ha preparado un campeonato sensacional que promete satisfacer las expectativas de todos sus participantes: aficionados, expertos, damas, niños y equipos de colegios medirán su estado físico y sus destrezas por rutas cuidadosamente seleccionadas dentro del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito.

you by 4WD to the first shelter (Carrel Brothers) 4800 meters , we

We leave the hotel in Quito at 5:00 am, we take the Panamericana Sur highway towards El Chaupi, then we go through "Bosque Encantado" into the area called the Virgen. Our transportation leave us at 3200mts, from here, we are going to hike for approximately 3 hours to the refuge. You will take a rest for 30 minutes and then we will continue toward the summit. There we have the opportunity to admire the mountains that are around us. Finally, we will hike down where our transportation will be waiting to bring us back to Quito.

DAY 1. Departure from Quito, we will take the Panamerican Sur highway until the town of Lasso, then continue toward Mulaló, to finally reach the María Ranch, place where our transport will leave us. From here we will continue toward the area of Morurco, a rocky peak located at 4700 mts. place of our first camp.

DAY 2. In the morning we will continue our journey advancing toward the east side of the Cotopaxi; we will be reaching as far as 4.100mts, below the immense glaciers of the Volcano. We will camp in the area of the Vicious Valley that faces toward Quilindaña Volcano.

DAY 3. Continuing with our journey we will hike through an area of big and small hills and small lagoons where ducks, mountain gulls and other characteristic birds of the paramo nest.
DAY 4. In the morning we will keep on with our journey and on this day we will arrive to the great plain of Limpiopungo, plateau located between the moutains of Cotopaxi and the Rumiñahui at a height of 3800 mts. This will be our campsite.

DAY 5. In the morning we will visit the National Park Cotopaxi and after we will return to the city of Quito.

DAY1. At the set time we leave Quito and head south to Riobamba, in this small city we will take about 30 minutes to rest and visit the indigenous market where we will buy rubber boots for our walk. We continue our route changing roads until the area called Inguisay located at 3422 mts. We will fix our baggage with our muleteers and mule to continue to our first camp located at 3,750 mts, Polylepis forest. Dinner, lodging, 2-3 hours hike.

DAY 2. After the breakfast we continue our hike of 5 - 6 hours to the Mandur Lagoon, located at 4.387 mts.
From there you will be able to observe the glacier with an impressive view of the mountain and some of their picks. Dinner, camp.

DAY 3. After breakfast we prepare our backpacks and get ready to hike to the Italian camp (the Glacier) at 4,500 mts, special equipment is not needed, but warm clothes are a must. From there you will be able to observe the Altar with all its picks, we continue our journey to the blue lagoon, then to the green lagoon and return following the same path. This hike takes about 4-5 hours. Dinner, camp.

DAY 4. Exit with all our camp equipment and all our carriers (not mule for the difficulty of the rock). We will hike through the rocky part of the mountain until the edge located at 4,484 mts and from there begin our way down to the area called Playa de Collanes located at 3,852 mts. This is a hike of 5-6 hours, we have a time to rest. Dinner and lodging in cabins characteristic of the place. (or camp)

DAY 5. This day we will dedicate it to visit the kettle, where is located the yellow lagoon, in the base of the mountain at 4,265 mts. Descent towards the lagoon, return to the campsite and time to relax near the river Collanes. Dinner and lodging in cabins (or camp) Hiking time: 4-5 hours.

DAY 6. After breakfast we will proceed with our return to the Releche ranch with all our camp equipment. Approximately hiking time 4 - 5 hours, place where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Quito.

DAY 1. - We will take the Panamerican Sur highway until the city of Riobamba from there we will take the road to the town of Guargualla Chico. This day we will spend on getting to the town, organizing our horses and equipment. Dinner and camp.

DAY 2. - Breakfast. Beginning of our journey approximately at 9 am, hike of 8 hours until arriving to Rincon de Escaleras, place where will be our second camp (snack in the Tambillo area), it has dinner and camp.

DAY 3. - Breakfast. Beginning of our journey approximately at 9am, hike of 8-9 hours until arriving to Plazapamba, place of our third camp.

DAY 4. - after breakfast we begin our journey, after 7 hours of hiking we will arrive to Playas, place of our fourth camp (snack on the Carnicerias area). Dinner and lodging.

DAY 5. - After breakfast, we will trek through the sandbank until arriving the edge from where we will be able to admire the magnitude of the volcano, without necessity of coming closer we will be able to observe and hear the eruptions with regular intervals, see stones, ash and smoke. The currents of lava are constant and at night the show that they provide is hallucinating and unforgettable. Descent, dinner and lodging in our camp.

DAY 6. - Return from the camp of “Playas” to the camp “Plazapamba.”

DAY 7. - This day we will spend in returning from the camp “Plazapamba” to Guargualla Chico where transportation is waiting to taking us back to Quito.
